Pedestrian struck in hitandrun on North Carolina highway

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Authorities said a Monday night hit-and-run crash involved a pedestrian in Cumberland County east of Fayetteville.
The crash was reported around 7:35 p.m. along NC 24 near Downing Road and Interstate 95, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle which was then driven from the scene, troopers said.
Westbound NC 24 heading toward Fayetteville was closed for about three hours Monday night while authorities investigated the matter, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
There is no official word about the condition of the pedestrian.

NCSHP is investigating. Several agencies, including the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, were at the scene.
Westbound lanes of the highway reopened just before 10:30 p.m., the NCDOT said.
