Bitter cold temperatures stick around

Arctic Air Sticks Around
Winter Storm Potential Friday – Saturday
Another Cold Weekend Ahead
Discussion:
Dry, but bitterly cold as an Arctic air mass sits over the region. Highs will struggle to reach the 30s and 40s, with overnight lows falling into the teens and 20s. Wind chills in the mountains may dip below zero. A low pressure system will develop in the Gulf and is expected to track across the southeast, bringing the potential for snow and freezing rain Friday afternoon through early Saturday. Confidence is building that areas north and west of I-85 will see wintry impacts, but depending on the track of this system we could see those impacts even further south. Snow is expected to begin Friday afternoon, and could transition to freezing rain in some areas as warmer air moves aloft. Any wintry weather that develops will clear Saturday afternoon leaving behind dry, but cold air with highs remaining well below average into next week.
