ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A pair of double-double performances have brought UNM center Nelly Junior Joseph his second Mountain West Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor this season. Junior Joseph averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds for the week in a pair of Lobo victories, one on the road and one at home. Junior Joseph also finished the week with his 50th career double double.
His first game, a win on the road at Fresno State, saw him put in a 12 points and 12 rebounds performance. Junior Joseph followed that up with 20 points and 10 rebounds in a 82-81 overtime home victory over Nevada.
Junior Joseph scored the game-winning bucket. He spent time in the offseason working on his jump shot. "I was working on that all summer. That's what I was doing whenever I go to the gym," said Junior Joseph. With the win New Mexico improved to 12-3 overall and 4-0 in Mountain West play. The Lobos are on the road at Wyoming Tuesday. The game has an 8 p.m. mountain start time and will air on CBS Sports Network.
