Man charged with abduction after police say he tried to carry victm out of Petersburg Walmart

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- A man has been charged with abduction after police say he picked a victim up and tried to carry her out of a Petersburg Walmart on Monday.
Just after 9 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, officers with the Petersburg Bureau of Police were called to the Walmart on S. Crater Road for report of an abduction.
According to police, a female victim entered the store and, shortly after, was grabbed from behind by the suspect. He then picked her up and carried her towards the exit while she struggled.

While officers searched for the suspect, they were made aware of a shoplifting incident at the Sheetz on Wagner Road. The suspect taken into custody there, 26-year-old Jacob Taylor, was charged in connection to both the Sheetz theft and the Walmart abduction.
Taylor has been charged with abduction by force, shoplifting, being drunk in public and assaulting an officer. According to police, he is being held pending his court appearance.
