PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WPRI) — A Middletown man and his wife were arrested within hours of each other for driving under the influence over the weekend, according to police. Police said Betsy Medeiros was taken into custody on Chase Road in Portsmouth around 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning after officers found her sitting alone in her broken down car. RELATED: RI officers arrest 108 for DUI over New Year’s holiday Medeiros, who failed a series of field sobriety tests prior to her arrest, has been charged with driving under the influence of liquor with a BAC of .15 or greater. Medeiros' husband, Marc Brownell, was taken into custody at the Portsmouth Police Department just before 2 a.m. that same morning, according to police. Police said Brownell drove himself to the Portsmouth Police Department and appeared to be intoxicated. He was charged with driving under the influence with an unknown BAC after also failing a series of field sobriety tests.
