  NEWTON, N.C. – An accused drug dealer is off the streets in Catawba County. Catawaba County Sheriff’s Office investigators say they seized a “trafficking” amount of fentanyl on Friday, January 3rd, while they were assisting NC Dept. of Adult Corrections probation officers. The seizure happened at a home on Hope Road in Vale. Investigators say they also took 11 grams of marijuana and $1,939 cash. Dirk Rodney Nixon was arrested and charged with Trafficking in fentanyl, Maintaining a Dwelling for the Purpose of Manufacturing, Selling or Delivering a Controlled Substance, Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and a Probation Violation. He was issued a $515,000.00 secured bond and has a first appearance in Catawba County District Court on January 6th. Sheriff Don Brown says, “Great work by our investigators and partners with Probation. Working together, we continue our fight against people who sell this deadly drug.”
