METAIRIE, La. (BRPROUD) — For the fourth-consecutive season, The New Orleans Saints are spending the Monday after their week 18 game cleaning out their lockers rather than preparing for a postseason game, despite, finishing with their worst record since 2005, 5-12. There isn't a doomsday mentality inside the building. Although the team finished dead last in the NFC South, they don't feel they need to blow things up and hit the reset button entirely. The team acknowledged change does need to happen, especially because the results aren't what they need to be, but there is a delicate balance that they need to find between too much change and too little change. "If you look at the history of this league, the teams that make the least amount of changes over the course of time are actually the most successful," said Saints interim head coach Darren Rizzi. "I think there's change that needs to be made, no doubt. We went 5-12 so there needs to be changes made. At the same time, I think there are a lot of strengths in this building. I think there are things that we do well. Like I said, I think there's a delicate balance on the things that we do change." "There's a lot of good stuff going on around here, man," said Saints running back Alvin Kamara. "Me being the prime example... this whole year, I could have been like, 'You know what? I don't want to play here. I'm going to play this season and then after the season, I'll figure out.' I could have kind of forced my way out. But I know what was in the cloth here. Just bear with us." The Saints will be making changes to the roster this offseason. New Orleans has nearly two dozen players who are set to become free agents, including tight end Juwan Johnson, defensive end Chase Young and cornerback Paulson Adebo.
