ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Rochester Police have made an arrest and recovered a handgun after a 911 caller reported a man that was almost struck by a vehicle and allegedly pulled out a handgun shortly after. RPD says officers responded to Joseph Avenue near Upper Falls Boulevard around 6:15 p.m. for the report of someone menacing with a handgun. Police say the 911 caller reported a pedestrian who had nearly been struck at the intersection, proceeding to pull out a handgun and point it at the vehicle. Quamere Sykes, age 21, was later found and arrested on North Street in relation to the incident. Police said he was found to be in possession of a handgun loaded with 32 rounds. According to police, Sykes does not have a New York State pistol permit and is not eligible to have a handgun in NYS. Sykes was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon (2nd and 3rd) and was transported Monroe County Jail, arraigned in Rochester City Court, and released with non-monetary conditions.
