VISALIA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Several cats were killed and a family was displaced after a fire consumed a Visalia home early Monday morning, the Visalia Fire Department announced.
Firefighters say around 3:30 a.m. they responded to a report of a house on fire in the 1800 block of north Hall Street.
Upon arrival, crews reported heavy smoke and flames pouring out of the home.
Visalia Fire says six people were inside, but were able to safely evacuate. Crews add several cats died in the fire and a couple were rescued.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire within 20 minutes, however, the home sustained significant damage by then.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
