BILLERICA, Mass. (WWLP) - The Billerica Police Department has arrested three individuals in connection with an ongoing mailbox theft investigation.

Detectives saw the suspects approach multiple mailboxes on the street, and exited their cruiser to approach them, which made the suspects run away. The officers brought them into custody and they were identified as 16 and 17-year-old boys, both from Lowell.
The driver of the Lexus, 18-year-old Brayden Moran of Lowell, was also taken into custody. The three suspects were arrested when detectives found stolen checks and a USPS Arrow Key, which is a universal key that can be used to access collection boxes and apartment panels.
These arrests have been made at a time when mailbox theft has been a recurring issue in the area, in addition to "check washing", a crime where checks are stolen and rewritten to a different name to be cashed.
