Injured redtailed hawk rescued in Chicopee

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - A red-tailed hawk was rescued after a Chicopee family found it in their backyard unable to fly.
On New Year's Day, Massachusetts Environmental Police Officer Cam Connelly was called to a home in Chicopee to help the hawk that appeared in distress. Officer Connelly, with the assistance of Chicopee Police, was able to capture the hawk and brought it to a licensed wildlife rehabilitator for care.

Massachusetts State Police rescue injured owl on highway
On the same day, Officer Connelly traveled to Becket for a barred owl found in a backyard that was having difficulty moving. The officer was able to capture the owl that appeared to have an injured wing. The Environmental Police reports that despite Connelly’s best efforts, the owl died on the way to the animal hospital.
