Three New Mexicans facing federal charges in 2024 kidnapping

MCKINLEY COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Three New Mexico residents are facing federal charges in relation to the assault and kidnapping of a woman in 2024. All three suspects, 45-year-old Michael Clubfoot, 41-year-old Carlyn Calavaza, and 40-year-old Alexis Mahooty, will face a sentence totaling up to life in prison if they are convicted.
According to the federal indictment, each of the suspects is facing a kidnapping charge; Michael Clubfoot and Alexis Mahooty are each facing an assault charge; and Clubfoot alone is additionally accused of assault with a dangerous weapon, use of a firearm during a crime of violence, and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

While waiting for the trial, which is set for February 10, Clubfoot will remain in custody, and Calavaza and Mahooty will remain under third-party supervision.
