The worst case scenario has reportedly become reality. Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson tore his ACL against Chicago on Sunday and will miss the rest of the season, while also putting the start of his 2025 season in jeopardy as well. The NFL Network was the first to report the news. Watson, who was playing two weeks after suffering a different knee injury against New Orleans, went down in the second quarter of the loss to Chicago. He was helped off the field and eventually put on a cart and taken back to the locker room. Coach Matt LaFleur said after the game he was not optimistic about Watson’s prognosis. The third-year wide receiver has struggled to stay healthy during his career, dealing with hamstring issues in his first two years. He missed most of training camp his rookie year after surgery, but returned to catch 41 passes for 611 yards and seven touchdowns. A year ago, he was limited to nine games. But an offseason spent focusing on getting his hamstring issues under control proved to work, as he played in and started a career-high 15 games. He caught 29 passes for a career-best 620 yards and two touchdowns. Watson is entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2025 after being a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
