Courtesy of AlphaMedia USA Lincoln.LINCOLN–(KFOR Jan. 6)–Former Nebraska Governor and former U.S. Senator Bob Kerrey has a new Missile Destroyer from the U.S. Navy named in his honor. The USS Robert Kerrey was named to the vessel in a ceremony at the Intrepid Museum last week. Kerrey is a Lincoln native, graduate of Northeast High School and University of Nebraska. Kerrey also received the Medal of Honor for his time as a Navy SEAL in the Vietnam War.  He served one term as Nebraska governor from 1983 to 1987 and later served in the U.S. Senate from 1989 to 2001. Kerrey said in a statement he’s very grateful for the recognition.
