Fayette County Public Schools to close January 78 due to road conditions

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Fayette County Public Schools (FCPS) announced the closure of schools for Tuesday, January 7, 2025, and Wednesday, January 8, 2025, citing challenging road conditions and ongoing efforts by road crews and first responders.
In a release, FCPS stated: “After careful consideration of present road conditions and out of deep respect for our road crews, first responders, line personnel, and others who are working around the clock across our county, we have decided to close schools on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, and Wednesday, January 8, 2025.”
The closures will not be considered Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) days.

All evening and after-school activities for Tuesday are canceled.
A decision regarding Wednesday evening and after-school activities will be announced tomorrow.
Tuesday is a traditional snow day for employees following the instructional calendar.
Employees with extended calendars should consult their supervisors about working remotely or performing other duties.
