FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) -- No charges will be filed after a teen shot and killed a man who crashed outside his Tobaccoville home on Thursday, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff's Office news release. Around 8 p.m., Forsyth County deputies responded to a shooting in the 6700 block of Doral Drive. FCSO investigators determined that 21-year-old Jarit Miguel Palacios Mayren crashed into a culvert and then went into the front yard of a home. An 18-year-old who lives in the home heard the crash while sitting inside where Mayren’s vehicle landed. Knowing that others were outside the home, the teen went outside to see what happened. Mayren then put the vehicle in reverse, drove through the yard and hit a parked vehicle in the driveway. The 18-year-old went inside and got a gun. When he got back outside, he saw the vehicle moving forward and shot at the vehicle to protect the people outside, the release says. Shots hit Mayren and the vehicle he was in. Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but Mayren was pronounced dead at the scene. All evidence, including statements from the teen and other witnesses, were presented to theForsyth County District Attorney’s Office. After a review, The FCDAO declined to press charges, according to the FCSO.
