Police: Man in Neenah dies after crashing into a tree, 1yearold found in 'smokefilled' apartment

NEENAH, Wis. (WFRV) - A man reportedly died after crashing into a tree in Neenah on Saturday evening, and a one-year-old child was recovered from a 'smoke-filled' apartment.
According to the Neenah Police Department, on January 4 around 10:30 p.m., officers were sent to the 800 block of South Park Avenue for a vehicle vs. tree accident. The release says that multiple people reported the vehicle was on fire.
Authorities say that an unconscious man was removed from the vehicle with 'traumatic injuries'. He was sent to a hospital and was later pronounced dead.

During the investigation, it was reportedly believed that a one-year-old child was inside the vehicle. However, it was later determined that the child could be in the decedent's apartment.
Officers reportedly ended up forcing entry into a residence where the child was found in a smoke-filled apartment. The child did not reportedly require medical attention and was released to a family member.
The investigation is ongoing and no additional information was provided.
