STARK COUNTY, ND (KXNET) — A 17-year-old teen from Dickinson has been found dead in a creek slough near 112th Ave SW and 32nd St SW. According to the Stark County Sheriff's Office, at about 8:38 a.m. on January 5, the office responded to a call in rural NW Stark County for a report of a body in a creek slough. The body was initially found by a hunter. Upon responding and investigating, officers determined the body was that of a 17-year-old juvenile teen from Dickinson. He was previously reported to the Sheriff’s Office on January 4, 2025, at 12:29 a.m., for a welfare check by a family member at their home. Officers conducted a search of the area, along with family members, who searched the home, garage, and the immediate area around the home. A thermal imaging device was used to examine areas near the home, but the boy was not found. Cass County road closed after trailer full of pork catches fire Based on information provided by the family and footprints found nearby, there was an indication the juvenile may have gotten into a vehicle and left the area. There was limited residential camera footage indicating the teen was walking around outside of the residence but did not provide enough information about the direction in which he was headed. The body of the teen has been sent to the ND State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. No foul play is currently suspected, and there is no concern for the safety of the public. The case remains under investigation. The Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased juvenile male. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox.
