WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Snow ice cream is a thing, with a number of recipes for it circulating online. If you're not sure what it is, you don't have to overdo the thinking. It's ice cream...that you make with snow, which, of course, becomes the basis of any recipe. In terms of other ingredients, things aren't too complicated. Southern Living offers a recipe that uses only four items: snow, evaporated milk/half-and-half, or cream (your choice), granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. VIDEOS and PHOTOS: Winter storm leaves blankets of snow across DMV Other recipes are fairly similar, touting the handful of ingredients, as well as a quick prep time. (How does about five to 10 minutes sound?) You can do a little experimenting with your ingredients, of course, once you nail down the basics. One of the big things the recipes suggest is making sure that your snow is CLEAN if you decide to give making snow ice cream a whirl. The Country Cook describes it as "a kid favorite!!"
