(BCN) -- The City of Berkeley is inviting residents to take emergency preparedness classes with fellow community members to learn practical skills that can be put into action during and after disasters. The classes include skills such as organizing others into teams to respond to emergency incidents, putting out fires, finding and rescuing victims using basic tools, setting up a medical triage area, performing basic first aid and helping survivors cope with extreme stress after a disaster. The seven-class series starts Saturday and repeats in May. Residents can take any number of the seven different classes in this series. Each of these 3 to 4-hour-long classes will be offered four times in person in 2025, with evening and weekend sessions available. To take a class, residents should register one month in advance on Eventbrite. Copyright © 2025 Bay City News, Inc.
