Businesses destroyed by fire at Massachusetts strip mall

ONSET, Mass. (WWLP) - Multiple businesses in a strip mall on Cranberry Highway in Onset are now without a storefront after a four-alarm fire tore through the building on Sunday.
Assistant Fire Chief Howard Andersen says crews were called at around 11:38 a.m. for a fire alarm system alert and a caller reported a fire at 3086 Cranberry Highway. Upon arrival, heavy smoke could be seen coming from the multi-unit commercial buildings, everyone was able to evacuate safely.

With the assistance of nearly 60 firefighters, the fire, mostly on the first floor, left extensive damage to some of the businesses inside. The Massachusetts Department of Fire Services Hazardous Materials Response Team was called due to a large quantity of Lithium-Ion batteries in one of the businesses.
A firefighter was injured and was treated and later released from Tobey Hospital.
