High Surf Warning extended for Kauai and Niihau through Jan. 8

HONOLULU (KHON2) -- The National Weather Service (NWS) has extended its High Surf Warning for the north- and west-facing shores of Kauai and Niihau until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8. The warning could be updated as conditions change.

NWS officials are urging caution, as dangerous surf is expected to continue along exposed shores.
They warn that entering the water in these areas is extremely hazardous and could result in serious injury or even death.

Large waves breaking along the shore may also pose risks for those standing near the water.
