HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- A Murrells Inlet man claims the Grand Strand Water and Sewer Authority is responsible for causing more than $30,000 in damage to his home after blowing out a utility line over the summer.
Meltiah Greene's complaint filed Dec. 30 in Horry County Common Pleas Court says employees working at a subway station near his Seaway Lane home were pushing compressed air though a sewer line to clear a grease blockage when the air traveled through to his toilet, causing raw sewage to enter the home.
Greene's lawsuit said while neighbors came over to assist, Grand Strand Water and Sewer Authority workers admitted they "just blew out the sewer line."
The incident caused "serious damage to his floors, tiles, walls, foundation, framing, electrical, bathroom, and other parts of his house," according to the complaint.
