VR headsets, hoverboards and air fryers are just a few standouts from past years. But the It Gift of 2024? That title goes to the smart bird feeder. It’s not hard to figure out why. Perfect for anyone with a yard, it features technology that’s simple to use and provides a little thrill every time it helps you correctly identify a bird that’s dining from it. And if you check out the product line from the makers of the Birdbuddy, which boasts being the original smart bird feeder on the market, this trend is just getting started. At CES Unveiled in Vegas, Wonder — the company that brought Birdbuddy to the masses — showed off their latest offerings that build on the success of the product that was so popular it sold out before Christmas. Launching this year is the Petal, which is a modular camera that can be affixed anywhere — perfect for folks who don’t have a sprawling backyard but still want to capture the magic of a trail camera. Wrap it around a branch or balcony rail, and it will give you a novel view of your space and the creatures that visit you from time to time. The cameras in all of their products can identify species beyond just birds, meaning no squirrel will go unnoticed.  A Wonder Block on display at CES Unveiled in Las Vegas. Also at CES Unveiled, Birdfy, a company that boasts more than 400,000 sales on Amazon, showed off its newest model, the Birdfy Feeder Metal, which comes with an improved camera and species-detection ability powered by AI. Birdfy has a wide array of products, with at least 15 designs available to shoppers in the United States. BestReviews had named the Birdbuddy as the Best of the Best and the Birdfy as the Best Bang for the Buck and will test the newest models to evaluate where they fall in the rankings.
