NORTH CAROLINA – According to a new analysis by phone number management company NumberBarn, North Carolina is one of the worst states for robocalls and ranks 5th in the nation for states with the most robocall complaints.
Statewide, 85,604 complaints were filed in North Carolina in 2024, amounting to 826 per 100,000 residents, according to the Federal Trade Commission.
Locally, 5,530 robocall complaints were reported in the Charlotte area.
Overall, robocalls have spiked by 9% year-over-year in North Carolina
In 2024, phone call and texting fraud cost Americans $1 billion. The median loss per victim of phone call scams stands at a staggering $1,500.
