SCHP: Fatal crash occurs after driver strikes multiple trees

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating an early morning crash that claimed the life of one driver.
Troopers said the collision occurred on Monday at approximately 12:07 a.m. about 3 miles west of North Charleston.
A 2012 Dodge SUV was traveling north on S.C. 61 when they veered left off the roadway, striking multiple trees.
Officials say the driver died at the scene.
The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office has identified the driver as 47-year-old Rico Blandin of Ladson. The coroner pronounced him deceased at 2 a.m. on the scene.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office are investigating.
