This Mid City spa is returning to its downtown roots

Mid City’s The Emporium Signature Spa is opening a location downtown.
Operations Manager Emily Hutchison tells Daily Report that the new spa will open at 334 Third St. between The Basin Music Hall and Squeaky Pete’s in mid-January.
The expansion is in some ways a return to The Emporium’s roots, as the business got its start on downtown’s Laurel Street in 2006, though it was then known as The Massage Emporium.
“Downtown is essentially our home,” Hutchison says.
The business relocated to Electric Depot on Government Street in 2022 and has since adopted its current name. According to Hutchison, that rebranding was intended to reflect that the business’s offerings had grown to include an array of esthetics and wellness services in addition to its massages.
The decision to reopen a location downtown was the result of an outpouring of requests to do so, Hutchison says.
“People were coming up to us and saying, ‘We miss you, we want you back,’ so we went and found a good spot,” she says. “We really wanted to create an opportunity for all of our downtown locals, businessmen and businesswomen to have a moment to relax.”
The Emporium’s Mid City spa will remain open after the new downtown location opens its doors.
