BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) - A Zachary man was killed after his vehicle was involved in a crash in West Feliciana Parish.
The Louisiana State Police was called to LA 965 around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5.
They initiated an investigation into the single-vehicle crash which took the life of Jaime Hernandez, 50.
He was driving east on LA 965 in a 2014 Jeep Wrangler when a tree fell on part of his vehicle. This caused "Hernandez to run off the roadway to the left, striking multiple other trees," LSP said.
The Zachary man was not wearing a seat belt at the time and died at the scene.
LSP is working to determine whether impairment played a part in this crash. They said a standard toxicology sample will be analyzed.
"Inclement weather may have been a factor, and this crash remains under investigation," LSP said.
