BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) -- The Southern University men’s basketball team kicked off their Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) season with a strong performance, securing a 67-58 win over Texas Southern. Guard Jordan Johnson led the Jaguars, delivering a standout performance with a game-high 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting. This victory improves Southern's record to 6-8 for the season. The team has also earned notable wins against Louisiana Tech and Tulsa, both from Group of Five conferences. Southern entered the season projected to finish third in the SWAC preseason poll. They will look to build on this momentum Monday as they wrap up their two-game road trip with a matchup against Prairie View A&M.
