Best places for sledding in Columbus and central Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — With many schools closing due to the season's first significant snowfall, students can get outdoors and enjoy all the excitement winter weather offers.
Central Ohio has several great sledding hills where restless children can get out and play. Here are some of the top places to slide into fun around town:
Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park
The park's sledding area, located at 8465 Alkire Road in Galloway, features one of the steepest sledding hills in the area. Winter fun seekers can find the hill near the canoe access point and the Ohio to Erie trailhead.

Blacklick Woods Metro Park
Blacklick Woods, located at 6975 East Livingston Avenue in Reynoldsburg, features an incline that is a compromise between a steep drop and a gentle slope. The moderate hill that is fun for all ages can be found at the park's golf course.
Blendon Woods Metro Park
Smaller children will enjoy Blendon Woods, located at 4265 E Dublin Granville Road near Westerville in Columbus. The hill is perfect for kids ages 8 and under. When entering the park, take a right where the road splits to find the sledding area.
Clinton-Como Park
Clinton-Como Park, located at 3299 Riverside Drive in Columbus's Clintonville neighborhood, has a sledding hill on West Weber Road at the Olentangy Bike Trail. The spot is great for kids who want more adventure, but it is not so steep that sledders will be winded dragging their sled back to the top.
Griggs Park
Located at 2933 Riverside Drive near Upper Arlington in Columbus, Griggs has a large sledding area near Fishinger Road.
Highbanks Metro Park
Highbanks Metro Park, located at 9466 Columbus Pike in Lewis Center, features two sledding hills in the Big Meadows picnic area, including one for children aged 10 and younger.
Schiller Park
A perennial favorite, the sledding hill at Schiller Park, 1069 Jaeger Street in German Village, offers a thrill for older kids but is not too steep.
Scioto Grove Metro Park
Near the Grove City area at 5172 Jackson Pike, Scioto Grove offers a lot of fun for winter sports enthusiasts. A sledding hill is available for winter fun near Backpacking Site #2.
Scioto Park
Located at 7377 Riverside Drive in Dublin, Scioto Park offers a gentle hill for younger kids and a steep hill for more advanced sledders. As a bonus, the park features a walkway back to the top of the hill. Weather permitting, the sledding hill is available from 7:30 a.m. to dusk.
Sharon Woods Metro Park
Another Westerville-area favorite, Sharon Woods’ sledding hill offers two sledding hills, one of them a bunny hill for small children. The park is located at 6911 Cleveland Avenue in Columbus. The entrance is a short distance north of the main park entrance.
Quarry Trails Metro Park
A large sledding hill can be accessed at 2600 Dublin Road, Columbus, across from the mountain bike area.
Walnut Woods Metro Park
Walnut Woods in Groveport has a low hill in the Buckeye Area, 6716 Lithopolis Road, providing just the right slope for young kids to enjoy sledding.
