HILLIARD, Ohio (WCMH) - A pizza chain that's been a central Ohio staple for 75 years closes one of its eateries in Hilliard. Massey's Pizza has shut its restaurant at 5068 Cemetery Rd. The Hilliard location is listed as "closed" on the company's website and a voicemail from the Massey's Hilliard number states the location is closed, offering customers an option to order from another location. $450,000 settlement for Ohio teacher who refused to use students’ pronouns A statement from Massey's said, "While we are sorry to leave the Hilliard area, we decided to close this underperforming store to tighten up the bottom line heading into the new year. This location has never met our expectations and unfortunately was on the chopping block. We thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Hilliard community." The pizzeria has several locations all across central Ohio and even an eatery in South Carolina. The concept started in 1949, opening its first pizza shop on East Main Street in Whitehall, according to the company website. Since then, Massey's a variety of menu items from specialty made pizza, Stromboli, subs and more, along with a food buffet at select locations. The closure of Massey's Hilliard eatery joins several other local restaurants that closed in 2024, including the recent shuttering of Hoagie City in Hilliard, along with other pizza shops including Anthony’s Pizzeria and Tommy’s Pizza. Anthony's in Bexley was known for New York-style pizza shut down in April 2024 and was located across from Capital University. Tommy's Pizza at 174 W. Lane Ave. near Ohio State's campus closed in June.
