Party City to auction leases of four central Ohio stores
Jan 06, 2025
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Party City is auctioning off the leases of four central Ohio stores that are closing after the retailer again filed for bankruptcy.
The company entered into Chapter 11 proceedings in late December, citing "an immensely challenging environment driven by inflationary pressures on costs and consumer spending, among other factors." Now, A&G Real Estate Partners is planning to auction off 695 Party City store leases nationwide, including the following Columbus-area locations:
10701 Blacklick-Eastern Road in Pickerington.
3703 Easton Market in Columbus.
1297 Polaris Parkway in Columbus.
6655 Sawmill Road in Dublin.
A&G Real Estate Partners's marketing pamphlet says the 695 stores range from 7,000 to 46,000 square feet and offer "turn-key spaces ready for immediate occupancy, strategically located in established retail corridors, favorable lease terms, opportunities in both urban and suburban retail markets."

Party City also filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January 2023. That move allowed for a restructuring that eliminated nearly $1 billion in debt. The New Jersey-based retailer said it will keep more than 95% of its 12,000 employees to help with the process of shutting down.
Earlier in December, discount chain Big Lots said it would start going-out-of-business sales at its remaining locations after a sale of the company didn't materialize. Party City's website similarly shows going-out-of-business discounts of up to 50% on the shop's entire assortment of goods.
