David Reginek-Imagn Images Detroit Lions CB Terrion Arnold suffered a foot injury. It’s unclear how serious it is, but there is some good news. During the Detroit Lions’ emphatic win over the Minnesota Vikings, the team suffered two more injuries to their defense. Defensive tackle Pat O’Connor has a calf injury, while cornerback Terrion Arnold has a foot injury. Both players were initially ruled questionable to return but later downgraded to out. There was no update on O’Connor after the game, but coach Dan Campbell had this to say about Arnold. “I’ll know more tomorrow. It was obviously enough to where he couldn’t finish the game. So, take that for what it is,” Campbell said. That didn’t sound like an encouraging update, but with some on Twitter speculating that Arnold may have broken or fractured a bone, Campbell confirmed that initial x-rays were actually negative. “The x-rays were negative, but that doesn’t mean—he’s pretty tender,” Campbell explained. Arnold was in the locker room celebrating with the rest of the group, but was sporting a boot on his foot. When asked about the injury, Arnold was upbeat. “We don’t know right now, but they prayed up,” Arnold said. “Trust in god, I’ma be good.” The Lions are pretty shorthanded at cornerback at the moment. Starting cornerback Carlton Davis is on injured reserve with a fractured jaw. Emmanuel Moseley was just placed on the non-football illness list and is likely done for the season. Ennis Rakestraw is on injured reserve, but could potentially come back. That said, the Lions do have two capable starting outside cornerbacks in Amik Robertson and Kindle Vildor. Robertson was particularly impressive on Sunday vs. the Vikings, holding Minnesota superstar Justin Jefferson to just three catches and 54 yards. Amik Robertson shadowed Justin Jefferson on 35 of his 43 routes tonight Robertson allowed Jefferson just 3 Receptions for 54 Yards on 7 targetsh/t @NextGenStats https://t.co/UdbZMjNpr0 pic.twitter.com/cw5AY45jsW— The 33rd Team (@The33rdTeamFB) January 6, 2025
