SEEKONK, Mass. (WPRI) — The Showcase Cinemas in Seekonk showed its final movies on Sunday. "We are sad to let you know that Showcase Cinemas Seekonk Route 6 is closing. It has been our pleasure to serve the southern Massachusetts community with great movie-going for many years. Due to a business decision January 5, 2025 will be our last day of cinema operations," a statement read on the Showcase Cinemas website. The cinema will be replaced by a Market Basket, the town planner confirmed to 12 News. The Seekonk store will be located beside a Target and down the road from a Walmart, Stop & Shop, and where a new Whole Foods is being built.
