AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Grab the heaviest coat in the closet - you'll want it this morning! A Cold Weather Advisory continues until 10 a.m. today for wind chill values 20° or colder. Gusty north winds 10-20+ mph combined with temperatures in the 20s and 30s are making for a frigid start to the day. Cold Weather Advisory in effect until 10 a.m. Monday Temperatures will warm some this afternoon... but not much. Afternoon highs will climb to the 40s under a sunny and dry sky before cratering to the 20s overnight. Cold air will remain over Texas for several days, with high temperatures 10-20°F below average through this weekend. Overnight lows will be below at or below freezing for the next 5-6 nights. There is increasing confidence in the possibility of wintry weather between Wednesday night and Friday morning. While it's too early to predict accumulation or specifics, we are closely monitoring the situation. A wintry mix is possible in parts of the Hill Country, while a cold rain is likely southeast of Austin. Be sure to download our First Warning Weather App for the latest updates.
