TOPEKA (KSNT) - Residents across Northeast Kansas and the Midwest are amidst a strong winter storm with wind speeds up to 30 mph. Intense snow fall has completely covered residential and neighborhood roads, side walks, and driveways. Today, Jan. 5, city spokesman, Daniel Garret, tells 27 News that city workers will now start treating neighborhood roads accordingly. The city will be sending out small trucks to residential and neighborhood roads this evening. It urges cars to be parked off the roads and into driveways if possible to make it easier for plow to maneuver through narrow roads. The city plans on only passing through each residential road once to maintain swiftly plowing. The city is currently working with 24 snow removal trucks. It says all roads are expected to be cleared within 2-3 days.
