VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) -- An Independence Middle School teacher suffered minor injuries following an attack by a student on Friday. According to Virginia Beach City Public Schools, a student at Independence Middle School physically attacked a teacher inside a classroom. A second student was also involved in the incident. School administration and police responded and began an investigation. VBCPS will use the full extent of the code of conduct to discipline the student, and the Virginia Beach Police Department may file charges. The teacher was evaluated at the hospital for minor injuries and is expected to return to the school. Families of all students in the classroom were contacted by Independence Middle School.
