No. 5 Texas starts SEC slate 20 with wins over Sooners, Razorbacks

AUSTIN (KXAN) — No. 5 Texas forced 25 turnovers and outrebounded Arkansas 46-27 en route to a 90-56 win in Southeastern Conference women's basketball action Sunday at Moody Center.
The Longhorns moved to 2-0 in their inaugural SEC season by turning defense into offense, scoring 32 points off Razorbacks' turnovers. Texas scored on nearly 61% of its possessions and six players scored in double figures including two double-doubles. Aaliyah Moore led the way with 17 points and 14 rebounds while Kyla Oldacre had 10 points with 11 rebounds, eight on the offensive end. The Longhorns destroyed the Razorbacks on the offensive glass 25-7 to score 28 second-chance points.
Longhorns men’s hoops falls to Aggies in SEC opener
Justice Carlton led the Longhorns off the bench with 15 points, followed by Jordan Lee's 13 and Bryanna Preston's 11. The Texas reserves scored 41 points to Arkansas' 13 and the Longhorns held a 52-22 advantage in paint points.
Rori Harmon scored 12 points with six assists for Texas. The Longhorns had 20 assists to Arkansas's six.

Texas shot 44% from the field, 33-for-75, taking 30 more shots than Arkansas, and 19-for-26 from the foul line. The Longhorns connected on 5 of 15 3-point attempts with Lee making four and Carlton the other.

Texas outscored Arkansas 22-7 in the fourth quarter, holding the Razorbacks scoreless for the final 2:46.
Arkansas' Izzy Higginbottom led all scorers with 23 points.
The Longhorns (15-1, 2-0) host No. 19 Alabama on Thursday.
Texas wins ugly in Norman for SEC opener
It wasn't one for the highlight reel, but the Longhorns beat rival Oklahoma 80-73 on the road to open SEC play Jan. 2.
Despite turning the ball over 18 times and getting dominated on the glass 44-28, Texas turned Oklahoma over 27 times to score 28 points. Texas erased a 26-17 first-quarter deficit to lead 40-39 at the half.

Lee finished with a team-high 17 points off the bench while Harmon scored 16 points with eight assists. Lee made all four of Texas' 3-point field goals. Taylor Jones had 14 points and Oldacre chipped in 12.
Texas shot 29-for-61 from the field while the Sooners were 26-for-60. The teams combined to shoot 48 fouls shots and were whistled for 53 fouls. Oldacre and the Texas bench were issued technical fouls. More than 8,000 fans packed into the Lloyd Noble Center.
