FORD COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) - One man is dead after icy road conditions caused a crash in Ford County Saturday evening. It happened around 6:20 p.m. on U.S. Highway 56, two miles east of U.S. Highway 283. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a semi-truck hauling a trailer was driving eastbound on U.S. 56 when it started swerving due to icy road conditions. The driver attempted to correct it, but the trailer jackknifed. A 2017 Toyota Tacoma Pickup then struck the trailer. The pickup truck contained two occupants. The driver, 28-year-old Bernabe E. Rincon from Dodge City, was fatally injured. The other occupant, a 27-year-old woman, received suspected serious injuries. The driver of the semi, a 58-year-old man from Nevada, received no apparent injuries.
