Franklinton man killed in headon Tangipahoa Parish crash

TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Troopers with the Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash that left a Franklinton man dead in Tangipahoa Parish on Saturday, Jan. 4.
The LSP reported the crash happened on Louisiana Highway 16 near Dummyline Road around 4 p.m.

LSP officials said an initial investigation shows that 60-year-old Roderick Brumfield was driving a Chevrolet Silverado east on Louisiana Highway 16 while a Chevrolet Equinox was driving west.
The Chevrolet Silverado then reportedly crossed the centerline and hit the Chevrolet Equinox head-on.

Brumfield suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Equinox and four passengers suffered serious injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
According to the LSP, Brumfield, the driver of the Equinox and one passenger in the Equinox were properly restrained at the time of the crash and of the additional passengers in the Equinox, "two juveniles were improperly secured in child safety seats, and one juvenile was unrestrained."
LSP officials said the investigation is ongoing, and routine toxicology samples were collected.
