Peterson Schriever Space Force Base increases security
Jan 05, 2025
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Peterson & Schriever Space Force Base announced on Thursday, Jan. 2, that "out of an abundance of caution" after the attack in New Orleans and the Cybertruck explosion in Las Vegas on Wednesday, Jan. 1, changes were made to the rules for access to the base.
According to a Facebook post, the Trusted Traveler program has been suspended until further notice. Anyone without an access credential approved by the Department of Defense (DoD) will be required to get a visitor pass from the Peterson Visitor Control Center, even when traveling with someone who has a DoD ID card. Additionally, everyone accessing the base should be prepared for extra screening protocols.
The announcement said that though there are currently no known threats to the installations, the steps are being taken to ensure the safety and security of the personnel, residents, and visitors.
These security protocols extend to those wishing to visit the Peterson Air and Space Museum. For more information on how to get a visitor pass, click on the link above.
