FARGO, N.D. (KXNET) — Interstate 29 near Oxbow was closed on the evening of Saturday, January 4, after a truck and trailer caught fire on the road. According to a press release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a semi-truck with a trailer was traveling northbound on Interstate 29 near Oxbow when they suddenly burst into flames, causing the side of the trailer to split open. Drivers in the area were given a detour while fire crews extinguished the blaze. A later Facebook post from the NDHP states that the trailer contained 41,000 pounds of pork meat, and that cleanup was difficult and extensive due to burning grease and fat. North Dakota Crash Tracker 2024 As a result of this incident, Interstate 29 northbound was temporarily closed from Oxbow to Davenport (exits 50 to 54), and traffic was detoured to County Road 81.
