Which Detroit Lions player will step up in the huge finale vs. the Minnesota Vikings? The Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings will be searching for a hero on Sunday night. The two teams are so evenly matched, that it may just take one play, one performance, one player to tip the scales for NFC North supremacy.
Just about every single one of the game between Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell and Lions coach Dan Campbell has gone down to the wire, and I don’t expect anything less as the two team close out the regular season in a game for the NFC North crown and a first-round bye in the playoffs.
So today’s Question of the Day is:
Which Lions player will have a big game vs. the Vikings?
My answer: Offensively, the two chalk answers are Jahmyr Gibbs and Amon-Ra St. Brown. Gibbs has taken over the Lions backfield without David Montgomery available, and the second-year back has thrived. He also dominated in the previous matchup, gaining 160 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns.
As for St. Brown, just look at his last three performances against the Vikings:
Week 7: 8 catches, 112 yards, 1 TD
Week 18, 2023: 7 catches, 144 yards, 1 TD
Week 16, 2023: 12 catches, 106 yards, 1 TD
He’s a Brian Flores beater, and I expect another big game from him.
But, overall, I’m going with Kerby Joseph. The Lions safety insisted to the media he wasn’t mad about his ridiculous Pro Bowl snub, but his social media presence this week certainly suggests otherwise. He’s coming into this game with a huge chip on his shoulder and something to prove. Combine that with Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold—who is not afraid to try and fit the ball into tight windows—and I think Joseph tallies at least one critical interception in this game.
