SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Monster Jam returned to San Diego this weekend at Snapdragon Stadium with full-throttle action bringing the biggest and baddest monster trucks to town. For the event, 26-million pounds of dirt were hauled in to transform the field into a track designed for a dozen 12,000-pound monster trucks to tear across the dirt in a blur of power and unstoppable speed.  Things to do in San Diego this weekend “We want to see Tyler, Grave Digger, do the kickflip in the monster truck. Looking forward to that," said fan Matt Suncin. The competition is fierce as 12 top drivers battle it out for the Stadium Championship Series East title and a coveted spot in the Monster Jam World Finals in Salt Lake City, Utah, during Fourth of July weekend. Monster Jam Giveaway “There’s tumbles, it's a little jiggle. He just told me like it kind of comes with the territory, he gets a little beat up, but he makes it look easy," shared fan Malik Jones after speaking with the Grave Digger at the Monster Jam Pit Party before the main event. Navigating hair-raising turns and jumps, fans -- including first-timers Iana and Konstantin Karpusha -- cheered as their favorite truck and driver defied gravity. "I can’t believe that these cars can fly, jump," said Iana Karpusha. “All the parts are so expensive, and they prepare for like a year for this show. It's so nice, it's amazing," shared Konstantin Karpusha. If you don’t get a chance to catch the action this weekend, Monster Jam will be back January 11 and 12, 2025, followed by Supercross Race Day Saturday on January 18.
