FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A man continues to remain inside a northwest Fresno home almost a day after officers say he fired a gun off inside and then refused to leave the house, Fresno Police said.
Officers say the ordeal began when they received reports of shots heard on Friday night around 10 p.m.
They say they arrived to find a situation in which a person had fired a gun inside the home in the 3200 block of east Indianapolis Avenue, near Valentine Avenue.
Despite their multiple requests to step out, officers say the man refused and has remained inside.
Police continued their presence overnight and throughout the day Saturday.
Around 4 p.m., the decision was made to call out the Fresno Police Department's SWAT team.
Officers say they are currently negotiating with the man and encouraging him to leave the home.
No one else is believed to be inside with him.
Police are asking neighbors to shelter in place until the incident is over.
