Jan 04, 2025
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The famous Harlem Globetrotters returned to the birthplace of basketball for a highly anticipated night of gravity-defying dunks and unforgettable entertainment. Dozens of fans were in the stands to witness the Globetrotters take on their long-standing rivals, the Washington Generals.
This was all part of their 2025 World Tour. Players took part in several challenges like epic dunks, four-point shots, and more. There were even challenges for fans to participate in and win prizes.
One player who's been competing on the team for 8 years tells 22News that he's excited to be back on the court.
"It's amazing, every single time we step into the arena," expressed Lucius 'Too Tall' Winston, a player on the Harlem Globetrotters. "It's a great feeling for me. It's like a kid in a candy store, get anything and everything and just put on a really great show, and it's the new year, we just want to make them feel good."
The star says he also wants to inspire fans to chase their dreams. The team will be continuing their tour at the DCU Center in Worcester on Sunday, in a rematch against the Washington Generals.
