NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) -- A woman was transported to the hospital following a shooting on Saturday evening in Newport News, police said. Newport News police responded to the 5500 block of Marshall Avenue in reference to a shooting around 7 p.m. Upon arrival, officers located a woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound. She was taken to a local hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. There is no suspect information at this time. This remains an ongoing investigation.
