KOKOMO, Ind. — The Kokmo Jackrabbits will not play any games in 2025. In a Facebook post, the organization indicated that it will not play baseball in 2025 because of "unforeseen circumstances." In the post, franchise leadership also confirmed the Jackrabbits' future in Kokomo beyond 2025 is also uncertain. "We apologize for any lack of communication from our end these past few months as various unforeseen circumstances arose," Jackrabbits' brass wrote in a prepared statement. "As we're writing this, this will be the front office's final day with the organization as legal matters beyond our control continue to play out." In its statement, the organization didn't completely rule out the possibility that Jackrabbits baseball could return to Kokomo in the years to come — though the team provided no guarantees about its future. "In what was supposed to be out 10-year anniversary filled with celebrations, throwbacks, fireworks and more, Kokomo Municipal Stadium will now be without the crack of a wooden bat this summer. "While this necessarily doesn't mean the end of the Jackrabbits, however as it stands the future holds more questions than answers right now. As we've tried to simply push for one goal, 'Baseball in Kokomo for 2025,' unfortunately other parties would rather see the stadium remain empty. But legal matters have pushed it to the point that the Northwoods League and other teams must continue on, which we fully understand." The organization's entire statement is available here. The Jackrabbits played a full season in the Northwoods League in 2024. They finished last in the Great Lakes East Division standings with an 11-26 record. Only the Badlands Big Sticks (10-25) and Minnesota Mud Puppies (4-14) won fewer games. The Northwoods League is a developmental summer league for collegiate baseball players. According to its website, the Northwoods League has produced more than 340 Major League Baseball players in its history.
