HONOLULU (KHON2) -- For one Hauʻula teen, non-profit work doesn't stop, especially on his own birthday. The now 17-year-old Bottles4College founder, Genshu Price, celebrated his special day doing what he loves most -- saving the environment. Get Hawaii's latest morning news delivered to your inbox, sign up for News 2 You The local non-profit started 2025 creating a sustainably stronger world, holding its first large-scale recycling drive of the year at Windward Mall on Saturday, Jan. 4. Bottles4College founder earns national award Everyone was invited to drop off their recyclable cans and bottles to make a positive environmental impact while also helping students afford college. "We're going as strong as ever. We have some of the most incredible people coming back, and we are continuing to show that what we're doing is an actual solution for Hawaiʻi that anyone in the community can do," said Genshu Price, Bottles4College founder. KHON2 has been following Genshu's non-profit for the last four years. To date, Bottles4College has recycled 1.8 million cans and bottles, granting more than $43,000 in college scholarships and $10,000 for Maui wildfire victims. The non-profit also announced they have opened applications for the Bottles4College Scholarship 2025. Hawaiʻi high school seniors can apply for free through the online application form on the Bottles4College website.
