GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - An open house and ribbon cutting was held on Saturday for A Gathering For You, a unique new addition to the Green Bay community. The business is owned by Melissa Maloney and her husband Greg Maloney who lost their beautiful baby girl on March 22, 2023. Broadway District in Green Bay welcomes two new businesses More than a year later they are turning a tragedy in their family into a blessing for the community with an affordable venue for families and guests of all ages to celebrate the life of those they have lost. "Our daughter passed away in 2023, and we did the traditional route of going to a funeral home and seeing what they had to offer and it just didn't feel right for us," said Melissa. Greg explained that he and his wanted to celebrate his daughter and her being welcomed into this amazing world, rather than mourn the loss of her life. "This whole building was predicated on the passing of our daughter, and you know at the end of the day, we want to be able to help people with a cost-effective venue, that person's love of life and all the experiences that they had," he said. The two said there is nothing they love more than giving back to their community and making an impact, so they decided providing a warm and inviting space such as "A Gathering For You" was a special way to do that. Public holds retirement party for Wrightstown Police Chief after 32 years of service "When we meet with a family, we sit down and we kind of talk about what essentially they want to get out of this venue," explained Greg Maloney. "We have a lot of finishing touches that we can add to it as it's suited for them." The venue is located at 822 Cormier Road, Green Bay, WI, and is available for all kinds of celebrations and parties.
